Our origin
How Our Foundation Began
Jai Bharti Foundation was founded in 2015, as a charitable trust in Kolkata. It grew out of a practice the family already kept: helping where help was needed, quietly and without ceremony.
Registering it as a trust gave that practice a lasting structure and a defined purpose: to support education, extend healthcare where it is scarce, stand by the vulnerable, and instill moral and humanitarian values in the generations that follow. What had been individual acts of care was shaped into a sustained commitment.
Its mission was always meant to outlast those who began it.
A note from our founder
In his own words
I set up Jai Bharti Foundation in 2015, though the work itself had been going on far longer our family helped where it could, without much thought given to what it was called.
Making it a trust was a decision about permanence, legacy and commemorating my parents, Late Shri JaiChand Ji Jain and Shrimati Bharti Jain. I wanted something that could keep its promises long after I stopped being around to make them.
But I have come to believe the deeper task is not relief. Relief answers a moment. What we are really trying to build is a generation that knows how to hold itself to a standard that sees a person in difficulty and does not look away. Our perseverance has always been towards giving back to the society that built us. Therefore, creating a movement that takes everyone forward.
What I ask of those who come after me is simple. Keep the promises. Keep them quietly. And judge the work by who it lifted, not by who noticed.

The generational thread

The next generation of the family is already learning the work alongside Raj Jain, the Managing Trustee, so that it doesn't rest on one person for good. That was the plan from the start: a family passing this on, not one person carrying it forever.
